Spacefaring society has no real single Yule or such; but humans took humanity into space, and every planet, satellite or traveling city with cyclical light eventually seems to develop its own Festival of Lights at its darkest point.

Also, there will always be a need for nonverbal communication. Especially regarding the very urgent subject of who exactly is a big fat dork and who has ruined the recipe every year and why the holiday party is always at this house.
